Disable Advertisements in uTorrent 2013

Hi all users, uTorrent has served to be one of the most popular and widely used freeware. Millions of people use it every day to download their favorite movies, music and other files and it served great till sometime ago when uTorrent introduced advertisements into the program.

As of now, when you open uTorrent, you are presented with advertisements on the top as a header, a column on the bottom left and a popping ad at times. This has proved to be very annoying to all the loyal uTorrent users who believed uTorrent will be always ad free.


A user revolt occurred due to heavy negative feedback from the users and in the latest update, they have included a feature that allows users to turn off advertisements if needed. This was not publicly released since uTorrent wanted people to see them though they have a choice to disable it. And hence, thousands of people are still viewing the ads not knowing they have the ability to disable it. To disable the ads, simply follow the guidelines below :

1. Open uTorrent.

2. Go to Options > Preferences.

3. Click Advanced Tab on the Left Pane.

4. Type in offer in the filter and double click sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled to set it to false.

5.Click Apply and Hit OK.

6. Restart program for the changes to take effect.
